Applied to an alarmingly unpleasant world, usually of the projected future, dystopian writing is exemplified in Ready Player One (2011) by Ernie Cline. Pathos of the dystopian novel relies on dystopian framed visual context which moves the viewer as dramatic content. Dystopian is important to the meaning of the work.
